Most Beautiful

"I've found a way to make you
I've found a way
A way to make you smile."

On Writing...

Mind to Body

The wave rises up and breaks over him.

Pulses spread through his body.
He shivers and convulses with a start.
His entire body tightens.
Fingers involuntarily clench inward.
Nails etch tiny lines into his palms.

And then.  It passes.

And then.  He can put it back away.

Tucked beneath.

Are you Happy Now?!

His happiness was the heavy kind,
bogged down
tugged at by a persistent sadness.

Sadness gives depth. Happiness gives height. Sadness gives roots. Happiness gives branches. Happiness is like a tree going into the sky, and sadness is like the roots going down into the womb of the earth. Both are needed, and the higher a tree goes, the deeper it goes, simultaneously. The bigger the tree, the bigger will be its roots. In fact, it is always in proportion. That's its balance.”

Ever So Softly...

"Every time I see your face
you know I softly die."

See No Evil

It's out there.
Right next to you. All up in you and wrapped around you.
Undetected. It crept over, entered, and unleashed. Like a perfect warrior.
It's Colorless. It's Odorless. And it is Silent.

But Evil has a taste.
A sour metallic twinge, on the back of your throat.
Swallow it whole. Take it in.
If you want to find it.

Casting About

"Well you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
. . . And you let her go."

-- Passenger, Let Her Go

Lyrical Mashup Parts I, II, III - A Cento of Sorts

I hear in my mind, all of this music . . .

Thought we said goodbye last night,
I turned and tossed 'til it seemed you had gone.

But here you are with the dawn.

I didn't wake up this morning, because I didn't go to bed.
I was watching the whites of my eyes turn red.

The woman was a dream I had, though rather hard to keep.
For when my eyes were watching hers.  They closed. And I was still asleep.

Night is drawing near.
Shadows of the evening crawl across the years.

When you were young, you shone like the sun.
And every time I see your face, you know I softly die.  I can feel an angel sliding up to me.
Born before the wind and younger than the sun, the angel opens her eyes.
She's suddenly beautiful.
Honest to the point of recklessness, self-centered in the extreme.
But you're a good girl and you know it . . . .  Somebody who loves me.

Who am I?

I'm the rainbow in your jail cell.
All the memories of everything you've ever smelled.

And I will always love you from afar.

I remember way back then when everything was true
And I remember how we'd play, simply waste the day away
Nothing would come between us two dreamers.
People like us, we don't need that much, just someone that starts, starts the spark in our bonfire hearts.

But now, I'm so lonely I don't even want to be with myself anymore.  Same as it ever was.
Now, in the dark of night. Those small hours. Uncertain and anxious. I need to call you.

Putting on my daytime eyes, a good enough disguise until i get some sleep.

In summer's blinding light, the smell of wine and cheap perfume,
Don't you think that its boring how people talk?  All lies and jest.
Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn.
Each season strips us down to the bone and we bear it.

But once in a while, you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
There are rainbows, on the other side.

I wanna to be a Debaser.
I wanna dance with Somebody!
I wanna rock your Gypsy soul.

But in my lifetime, I'm still not right.
I throw my hands up in the air, the only soul in the world thats real.
How long till my soul gets it right?
This world falls on me with hopes of immortality.

But it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, if you don't know by now.
Anyone not dying is dead, so shut up and carry on.
One step at a time.

So, follow your arrow.
See.  The world don't move to the beat of just one drum.
And what might be right for you may not be right for some.

Those who feel the breath of sadness. Sit down next to me.
Those who find they’re touched by madness. Sit down next to me.
Those who find themselves ridiculous. Sit down next to me
And let the good times roll; let them make you a clown.

But I don't care.
I want to have control.
I want a perfect body.
I want a perfect soul.

Outside, the air so soft confessing everything
And there’s a thief made of cinnamon and lemon drops.
A girl with the kaleidoscope eyes.
Along the crimson edge of the window ledge, I kiss the sky.
Everywhere I turn all the beauty just keeps shaking me

Though I know I'll never lose affection,
In my life I love you more.
So hold me close now.
And dance closer to the ones you love.

The Sun Always Sets. And Rises.

"Do not go gentle into that good night ... Rage, rage against the dying of the light."
- Dylan Thomas

"I was afraid of the dark.
But now its all that I want.
All that I want.
All that I want.

And when the daylight comes I'll have to go
But tonight I'm gonna hold you so close
Cause in the daylight we'll be on our own
But tonight I need to hold you so close."

-- Maroon 5, Daylight
